Review of the Hunter 43 by Gerry Cooper

Normal wind strength 10-15 knots

Liveaboard? Yes  
Owner bought the boat in 2002  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, definately. Looked at Beneteau 432 as a liveaboard but the Hunter 43 is far better.  
Gear that's been added Haven't really added anything but have replaced a lot of items already fitted, such as HF & VHF, autopilot, inverter.  
Structural or complex improvements No  
The boat's best features Internal layout  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Starboard water tank vent line has a slight leak but you cannot access it with out removing the water tank. Haven't broken anything yet.  
Sailing characterisitcs Doesn't point exceptionally high but it is a shoal draft. Off the wind is really quick and outsails the newer Hunters  
Motoring characterisitcs Rolls a bit in a beam/quarter swell but will stick on 6.5 knots in all conditions  
Liveability Lived on board for 18 plus months now which included a 3 week trip to the Bahamas. Aft cabin can get a bit hot but as we don't have a 'Windscoop' it's probably something we can fix.

The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any  
Other comments Couldn't find a boat of this size with the equipment anywhere. The only other boat close was the Beneteau and internally the Hunter is much more comfortable
