The boat's best features It's very spacious and very easy to sail. Even with a 2 bladed prop, the boat backs up fairly easy. I'm planning to change from a 2 to a 3 bladed prop. Any sugestion?
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The area behind the helm shakes a lot at 2500 to 2800 RPM. This has not been as big of an issue as my refrigeration system. I've had nothing but problems with it. I've had service people come out twice and they still have not fixed the problem. The freezer doesn't keep anything cold and the water-cool system has been a pain. I've had to pay $138.00 for one service because there was some growth in my water line. When, I was out of town, the water pump ran non-stop and cause an overflow of growth which got past the filter. The water pump should not have ran nonstop but was eventually reset. This cost should have been covered under the warranty. I use to clean my filter every month and since I've had this problem, I clean my filter every week and put in a chlorine tablet. The problem still has not been resolve.
Sailing characterisitcs The rigging is very very easy to operate. Compared to my previous boat, it's easier to work the jib and the traveler. The boat is very stable while motoring with the main. I am happy with the performace of the boat.
Motoring characterisitcs As mentioned, the cockpit area behind the wheel shakes at 2500 to 2800 RPM. Also to be expected, while in reverse, the vessel drifts a little to port. This is probably the 2 bladed prop. What 3 bladed prop would you sugesst and what are the pros and cons with the 3 blades?
Liveability The boat is comfortable but it could use a little more hanging closet space. As mentioned, the refrigeration needs to be change.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any This is my first Hunter and I purchased my 410 from H&S in San Diego. They were very professional and helpful ,especially my sales person Gary-he was great! Although the service department has also been very professional and nice, the refrigeration system has cause a lot of inconvience for me.
