Year built 2000
Location of boat Orange Park, FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, bought the boat used (99 hours on engine)and love it now that I have added all the toys I needed. Sails great. Been across the gulf stream in a variety of conditions. Handles fantastic. Feel very safe with two person crew.

Structural or complex improvements Two 120V inlets in anchor locker, Only have to carry one 50 footer electrical cord. I carry two just in case. Shelve in galley, extra preparation space. Davits for dingy Frig and Freezer pressure latches eliminated a lot of the frost
The boat's best features No helm when sailing in 25 knot breeze with full sail up. Ease of furling sails after 25 knots Out of the way traveler on arch
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. UK sail straps have all broken. Poor quality. Had to replace all straps on both sails. UK says it the sun in FL. BS Cross over frig/freezer is very tricky. Can loose the freezer if refig runs too long. Somtimes looses prime during extreme sailing heals. Needs constant monitoring. Installed Radio Shack Temp monitors. Entire hull was redone to eliminate blisters. Great after three years. Done under Hunter warranty. Won't have the problem again. Need to add a better latch for the helm seat. Back macerator is tricky. Needs prefect prime, engine on and speed less than 4 knots. Anchor locker neds to be sub-divided for two anchors. Backside of all floor boards and doors need to be primed. Bilge needs two pumps, one high capacity with alarm. Aft TTH access could be better. Slight amount of water forms in the cockpit. Creates a dirty spot. I love that the boat has no water slap, but I'm concerned that the aft deck/hull seal is always wet. Not a problem reported that I can find. Hope it does not develop. I keep the water out of the aft tank (unless crusing) and with 180 feet of chain in the bow, the seal says mostly out of the water at dock. With as many 410's and 420's (same hull) that are out there, I would suspect that if this was a problem, we would know it. A boat this size needs more battery capcity and solar panels/wind generator if you are cruising.
Sailing characterisitcs Fantastic, except under 8 knots and down wind tact. Plan to add full batten main and a slightly large jib. No helm the Adminal can't handle. Traveler in great place to dump/trim main sail.
Motoring characterisitcs Yanmar 50HP does a great job. Most efficient with 3 blade prop at 2600 RPM, 8.8 knots with clean bottom. Back up well with port prop walk that can be used to your advantage during docking. Lots of room to work on the engine.
Liveability Our second home that floats. Nothing goes on the boat that is not permenant and can be put up in 15 minutes so that we can go sailing. Spent 6 weeks in the Bahamas and it was just like home, now that we have a portable ice maker from THD for $179
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent. Very responsive. Hunter covered the frig latches 2 years out of warranty. Love the documentation and drawings.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Whitneys is great. Linda Reynolds has become a good friend. How many of you can say that about your broker.
Other comments We owned a 380 and found the helm to be extreme and the heal quick. Rather than healing, the 410 accelerates when its gusty.
