Review of the Hunter 37 by Jim Bohart

If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes  
Gear that's been added Spnnaker winches and gear, tri-radial spin, mylar/kevlar main and 155 jib, storm jib and try-sail, exra halyards. Dodger/bimini. Wind/point-wind speed st50. Autohelm 6000. Anchors: yachttsman, hi-tensil danforth, CQR. 400' 34' rode and 30' chain. Backstay adjuster, man over board pole, GPS. EPIRB.  
Structural or complex improvements No, none  
The boat's best features Fast, stable, manuverable,and comfortable cruiser  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Had minor leaks in sea hood and port lights, some gel coat crazing etc. Had to relace bow pulpit and life lines when neighboring boat in adjacnt slip lost his mast.  
Sailing characterisitcs Sailed this boat to several first place overall finishes in the St. Augustine Yacht Clubs offshoe series. Did extensive cruising of the Bahamas and trips between St. Augustine and the Bahamas. Weathered Hurrican Hugo in the Northern Bahamas with wife aboard. The boat was rugged and inspired confidence in the worst situations  
Motoring characterisitcs The boat was equipt initially with a martec folding prop that caused a problem with shaft vibration. Replace with feathering prop and stainless shaft to correct. The power from the Yanmar 3Gm35 was plentiful.  
Liveability Spent many 2-4 week periods aboard and found the boat very comfortable. We added nicro-solar and passive ventilation to cure boats problem with mold in the tropics.

The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Whitney's Marine in Jaxsonville did a superb job of commisioning the boat and I got us a great deal.
