Owner bought the boat in 1997
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes she has served us well for our intended use.
Gear that's been added We have been adding equipment to our boat since purchased. A list is available on our web site with lots of photos.
Structural or complex improvements Not sure I would call our improvements complex but all are listed on our site.
The boat's best features Has to the amount of boat you get with these models for the money. All the teak is great and adds a very warm comfortable interior.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have read where lots of the older Hunters have had compression post issues. We do not have this issue with our hunter but is an area to check if buying one of the older Hunter boats. Also the deck around the chain plates is a common issue due to poor design allowing water to enter the cored deck. We cut out these areas and sealed them where water can not enter in this area.
Sailing characterisitcs GREAT sailing sloop! The 36 sails very well in light air and heavy as well. We begin to reef at 20 knots of wind. Easily sails at 6 knots in light air. Tracks well and can be left to sail her self in a groove. Sailing ability is what stands out most about these boats.
Motoring characterisitcs We dont do a lot of motoring but when required the boat handles well and moves a long at 6 knots in normal conditions. Our Yanmar has been very reliable.
Liveability Fantastic for a couple and will sleep 5 easily. We have had 15 folks in the cabin at times and the cockpit will accommodate 7 for drinks. We love to have our meals in the cockpit and the cockpit table folds out to accommodate large meals and drinks. We love the 6+ head room and tons of storage area. The cockpit lockers are huge!
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) They do not often return calls when they say they will get back to you to answer questions. However if you need to purchase parts they are a good source. I am sure they are resposive to owners buying new models. The HOW is the best sailing site I know of for finding information on details on older model boats.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any No problems.
Other comments We have lots of photos and details on our 36 located on our site. www.caribbeansoul.us The site is our For Sale listing of the boat but hope you enjoy the photos and upgrade information. If you have or are consdiering one of the 36's feel free to contact us for information. We love our Cherubini very much but have decided to upgrade to a 42 otherwise we would keep her forever!
