Review of the Hunter 340 by Robert Wolfe

If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, but I wouldn't have had the mast shortened to get under the bridges to the east. I had it shortened to allow access under 50' bridges along the gulf ICW. I think it hurts the performance especially in less than 10 knots of wind. The boat handles well in all conditions, but we need to have 12- 18 knots wind in order to be competitive.

Structural or complex improvements  
The boat's best features Easy to handle, well organized cockpit. I could single hand her if necessary.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have had several leaks in the overhead, that I cannot seem to find. The water comes in, not bad, just a drip, when it rains hard. It drips in around the light fixture on the port side salon area. There is no access to look into. Short of re-sealing all the port side window, I don't know what else to do. The fold up tables in the cockpit have never stayed down. The small plastic clips are inadequate.  
Sailing characterisitcs Excellent to windward and on reaches, not so good on downwind legs.  
Motoring characterisitcs Very reliable.  
Liveability A bit crowded in the galley, but for two people it isn't that bad. Entertaining another couple gets really crowded.
