Review of the Hunter 34 by ROBERT BERRY

Year built 1986
Location of boat OAKLAND CALIFORNIA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1986
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? My expereance with the broker was not to friendly so from that point I would say no.mostly the way some electrical wiring that was completed by the broker I don't know who was the idiot that installed the head the water heater bulge pump forward state room door but the work was very sub-standard.
Gear that's been added first was a dogger w/spray curtins, stero
Structural or complex improvements no but I guess I should havae.
The boat's best features The boat has awayse recived raves for its look
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the electrical wiring. material and installationthe head plumbing. installationIce chest. materialthe mast pumpeds servierly when at dock side the only thin that seem to work was to fly a large flag windard of the mast to disrupt the air flow.
Sailing characterisitcs easly over powered in the water around San Sanfrancisco I have double reefed the main but the boat slows servierly so I user a fishermans reef and try not to go sailing in the summer and stay away from the Golden Gate bridge.
Motoring characterisitcs fine the boat drives easly in reverse or fwd.
Liveability well I lived aboard for several years I would say if your retired and dont travel by boat there isen much room for food, pots n pans and no hanging lockers not for a sport coat if you can fold your cloth it could be ok
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) not good
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any it was not good but he isent in the business aneymore.
