Structural or complex improvements Replaced the 3 way water valve with 2, 1/4 turn valves and added a water filter. Removed the wiring from the base of the mast and refitted cables through a deck gland in front of mast.
The boat's best features Handling Sailing performance Accomodation layout
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Cables down through the mast. Water leaks from the opening ports. They were only fitted with silicone sealant applied under the outer flange. Gaps and poor adhesion results in leaks. Refitted now with 5200 sealant. No leaks! Sliding hatch leaks. Any water getting onto hatch can run round the edges and into the cabin. Also track leaks. Going to remove , seal track and add a drip strip to the sides. Poor quality plywood used internally really lets the boat down. The wood is not proper marine ply and delaminates when it gets wet. This even applies to the floor plywood. No access to parts of the floor.
Sailing characterisitcs Excellent
Motoring characterisitcs Excellent now but did have vibration problem caused by a bent prop shaft.
Liveability Excellent. Except I keep catching my shins on the hatchway when going from the cabin to the cockpit.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Excellent
