Review of the Hunter 33_77-83 by John Balfour

Year built 1979
Location of boat Pasadena, Md
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1979
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I would buy it again as it has been all that I've wanted
Gear that's been added Stereo radio, GPS, furling jib, autopilot
Structural or complex improvements none
The boat's best features sailability, cost of buying, workmanship
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. at first the small diesel was a problem, but with the addition of a 3 bladed prop, she has held her own in a microburst of 80 knots and in a 2 hour t.s. with 50 knot winds on the York River she moved right along....slow, but moved
Sailing characterisitcs sails best with a starboard breeze and you get a little damp in heavy weather with a low freeboard
Motoring characterisitcs She holds her own and has no problem maintaining 5 to 6 knot without strain. see above
Liveability good for 1 to 3 weeks trips but a wee bit crowded at your feet in the V berth. Have had older grandchildren out for a weeks cruise with out problems (adults)
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) excellent responses to all and any problems
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Tidewater in Harve de Grace are fantastic in their relations with customers !
