Review of the Hunter 25_73-83 by Bill Sutton

Owner bought the boat in 1990  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. It has been a solid, forgiving vessel with ample room below for my wife and myself. About the only thing I wish it had was a mechanism to lower the anchor from the cockpit. However, the bow pulpit design does not allow for this. I especially like the high free board making for a very dry boat. A cabin top mainsheet traveler would have been nice.  
Gear that's been added Roller jib, new ob, new tiller(made it myself), swim ladder wooden steps, new wooden ob motor mount, bow pulpit and one life line (orig. were distoryed in Hugo), cabin cushion covers, mainsail cover (wife made it.  
Structural or complex improvements None  
The boat's best features High freeboard, feel of a heaver boat, quite forgiving in stiff winds, easily sails on jib alone, ample cabin space, 10 opening ports and one forward hatch, standing room (barely!) below decks, very dry boat: bulge needs emptying only every 1-3 years!  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Mainsheet traveler gets in every one's way when centered in front of companion way, fairlead for anchor would be nice.  
Sailing characterisitcs Sails quite well under jib alone. See other comments above.  
Motoring characterisitcs Very good forward, typical in reverse.  
Liveability OK for married couple deeply in love. Starboard cabin impossibly short for normal adult to sleep on. Galley area scant on space, necessitating my adding more portable "counter" space.
