Review of the Hunter 25_73-83 by LMorten

Year built 1974
Location of boat Lake Hartwell, S.C.
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1987
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YES
Gear that's been added Custom Bow Sprit, 130 Genoa, many small items. Moved main sheet.
Structural or complex improvements 2ft Bowsprit, moved main sheet to over cabin (no traveler)
The boat's best features Simple to sail and handle with one to two people, great classic lines for a production boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. original deck coating, gel coat to hull, raising main sail.
Sailing characterisitcs Have to work in light air, goes like the devil in heavy air (high winds no waves on a lake)
Motoring characterisitcs We use a 7.5 Johnson and this pushes her to hull speed just fine.
Liveability For those comfortable with 'camping out' this boat is fine. Low head room even in main cabin will make for close quarter for tall folks. Plenty of room for day sailing but you have to be dedicated and real good friends to do overnights.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Never talked to them
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any didn't
Other comments We spent 15+ years sailing this boat and always loved it. Due to our age and needs we decided we wanted to spend more time overnighting in comfort and so are trading 'up' from this 30 year old Hunter 25' to a 20 year old Hunter 27'.
