Review of the Hunter 25_73-83 by Eric Evans

If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. The Hunter 25 is a good boat for beginners. Easy to sail with just 2 people or solo. The boat sails very well with either jib or main alone. I prefer to sail with the roller furling jib when solo sailing. Very easy to control and relatively fast too.  
Gear that's been added Yes. We mounted a Magma grille and a bimini to shade the cockpit while cooking. We added a GPS and cd player. We also have a CDI roller furling jib. All the interior cushions have been changed over from that 70's plaid to navy blue. We also carpeted the interior(looks very nice the all the great woodwork inside). I installed a new 28 gallon flexible water tank to replace the old 10 gallon tank.  
Structural or complex improvements Yes. Due to a surface blistering problem, I remove all of the blisters over the winter and applied the Interlux barrier coat system. I welded and reinforced the motor mount due to the neglect from the previous owner.  
The boat's best features The boat is easy to sail with just 2 people or solo. I like to sail with just the jib when I'm by myself because it is so easy and the boat still moves very well. It is a relatively good sailing boat.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Again, gelcoat blisters really suck. It is very expensive to have done professionally and very time consuming and labor intensive to do yourself.The cooler should have been better insulated with a better drain design. Sailing characterisitcs The boat points extremely well. It handles very precise in my opinion. It is a relatively fast boat too. Anything above 15 to 20 knot winds are a little  
Motoring characterisitcs My Evinrude 9.9 will push the boat about 6 knots in calm water and about 4 knots in a good chop.Again, backing up is tricky with the motor mouted where it is.  
Liveability The boat is very comfortable for a weekend trip with just me and my wife. Add our 2 year old into the equation and it gets a little cramped. It is not and never was intended to be a cruise ship, but it is a lot of fun daysailing with 4 people.
