Location of boat Perryville, upper Chesapeke
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer

Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1994
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YOU BETTCHA! This is a wounderfullboat. Having moved up from a 22' trailer boatwas a little scarry but "Slow Poke" held my hand the wholetime. She kept me out of trouble and my family safe, (I have 2 small kids, 5 6 now)I am not the best sailer on the planet and am glad to have hadher to help build my comfidence.
Gear that's been added Nothing, she had most everything on her that I could want or justify on such an old boat. She is a '76 and the previous owners had converted her to wheel steering, and moved the main sheet to the cabin top, better , but a traveler/sheet arrangment would have beenbest for pointing.
Structural or complex improvements none
The boat's best features Safe and seakindly even in a blow on the bay.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. 1. The bilge (you had to know this was coming)is totaly nonexistant and could not be pumped clean.2. The port lights leaked like a siv and there was not muchin the way of core material around the front ones. These leakage problems are a resulthowever, of the boat sitting on the hard for 3-4 years with out any maintainance.
Sailing characterisitcs She was fast ( like I know what fast is!)at least faster than the other old boats in the upper bay.Her 9 hp Yanmar was a little underpowered for any kind of head wind/ runnung tide combo. She had lots of weather helm in higher gusts but could be held to her heading with some muscle. She turns on a dime
Motoring characterisitcs Her 9hp Yanmar was under-poweredbut totaly reliable requirering with very little maintainanceI love her crank start as had, more than once, killed the batteries. (I hope my new boat has a similar feature)
Liveability It's nice for 2-4 days with the kids and wife, but gets crowded if shut in because of the weather. We had a 5 gal port-a-poty which was totaly inadaquitfor any stay longer than 2 days.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I've worked with a broker on the trailer boatand he gave me lots of advice when I was looking to replace it with a boat of the '27s size. I am now buying a '84 hunter 34with the same broker. As brokers go these guys are good.Tidewater Havre De GraceTony Tumas
