Review of the Hunter 27_75-84 by Barry Zehnder

Owner bought the boat in 2002  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? absolutely  
Gear that's been added Added (everything new) -13HP kubota Z482E engine wZF Hurth 10 Trans(replaced 8HP rennault), Aquadrive unit, 1" stainless shaft, 3 blade Michigan Sailor prop, 3/4" water intake for new engine, hoses and electrical wiring w new breaker throughout , GPS, Radio, Depthfinder, Bilge Pump, Compass, Furlex 100 S Jib furling system, rebuilt alcohol stove (both burners), antenna, wind indicator. I may have forgotten somethings but only because I'm tired.  
Structural or complex improvements No  
The boat's best features Ease of sailing. She's not real fast or fancy but it is a great learning boat for a former powerboater. With the gas prices of today I love my diesel. Absolute reliablity and quiet performance.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Doesn't back up to well, but that has something to do with lack of experience. Besides I m much more impressed with what is in front of me so i'm usually going forward.  
Sailing characterisitcs Still learning.  
Motoring characterisitcs With new engine and prop it maintains hull speed in most conditions. With old engine, although it always started and ran reliably, you had someone throw something off the bow and when it passed you at the stern you knew you were moving. (Or it could have been the tide)  
Liveability Comfortable for 2 certainly for a week or two. Lacks real storage space for extended cruising. Bigger might be nicer if I was a die in the wool cruiser, but I don't owe any money on this one so i stay satisfied.
