23.5 redux part 2

posted 10-07-2008 by Vince Gibson

I added dual axles as the single was unstable at speeds above fifty. The original springs were flat and rusty. The cost was $998 with new springs, axle, wheels, four tires, fenders and all harware. Should be worthwhile when we tow it to Ft. Myers in December (1200miles round trip)

Dual Axles and general trailer fix.

The rudder has been sanded and re-painted. I replaced the uphaul/downhaul ropes as well.

Rudder

Here is the boat with the mast steped, new clean topsides with new striping and hard bottom paint. I also replaced all the running rigging with new rode.

New look

Starting to look presentable.

Starboard side

I purchased the stern rail seats from Hunter. It makes the boat much more comfortable. I also got the Bimini from the Chanderly. The cockpit should be a nice place to be now.

Stern rail seats.

I opted for the wood tiller as the old aluminum one was bent and the holes wallerd out. I welded the holes and straightened it out for a backup, but the wooden one gives the cockpit a warmer more traditional appearance.

Tiller

I borrowed the idea from another Hunter owner on the electric winch. It doubles as a mast raising and lowering system with the use of a pulley I rigged out of some steel and a garage door pulley.
