Salon Table Modification

posted 05-05-2010 by Stuart Scadron-Wattles s/v Selah

Making the salon table conversion a one-person task:

Shortly after I took delivery of my new 2009 H36, the salon table veneer cracked during a routine lifting of the table to check on a correction made to a misalignment of the removable pedestal socket under the table.
The table was returned to Hunter at their request, and they elected to refinish and redo the table.
Which they did. They also repositioned the marine board under the table hole that surrounds the mast-step, to avoid the rub that had caused the cracking.

BUT: In the interval, I thought of a mod that would make the table conversion to berth easy to do with one person. I installed two pieces of 1/2 marine board underneath and on either side of the port table piece enclosing the mast, and installed stainless steel mini roto locks to hold the piece in place. Now I simply undo the four locks, remove the piece, and shift the table.
