The previous owner cut the openings and build the drawers. However these closed within the uneven ragged edge of the hastily cut fiberglass and were not flush with the face of the setee. An wooden edge was firmly stuck with caulking and new face for the drawers built; the wood is teak. A receding push button that twists when open was fitted to lock the drawers in place. Finish was with the factory teak oil used in the rest of the boat.
