v-berth

posted 09-12-2008 by Jeff Prideaux

I used a modification of the v-berth plans from Hunter

Thanks to Arthur Sumerlin for providing them to me along with his measurements!!! I had decided not to make one side longer than the other since I like having that space in the aft-part of the cubby for other purposes. I also made the removable panels a bit larger than what was specified in the plan.

shows the center and edge support. I had glued small molding strips to provide the channel for the boards to fit together.

shows the top support. This also provides the lip for the removable panels to gain access to the area underneath.

shows the completed v-berth. Note all the screws that hold everything together. The two center panels can be removed to gain access to the storage area underneath.

The v-berth in use (while the boat is in my driveway). There is now plenty of room for my two kids.
