Mast Holder

posted 10-07-2008 by Vernon Kinslow

The left piece is sized to the outside measurements of the front of the bow pulpit.
The center piece is sized to fit into the dip in the bow pulpit. The length of the right hand piece is the width of the left hand piece.

Mast Holder

The hole is drilled so the right piece top is level with the cut out portion of the unit.

Partiality Assembled

The nylon washer is between the center piece and the locking bar for spacing. I used a SS 1/4 20 2 1/2 screw and locking washer.

Fully assembled

The unit goes in with the locking bar in the vertical position as shown.

Installing the unit

You may have to adjust the tightness of the bolt when you lock it in place. This should be a one time adjustment.

Locked in place

Varnished and with the boat name on it. Not cabinent quality, but it looks pretty good. I am restoring a Hunter 22 and did not like the way the mast was being damaged while being carried in the bow pulpit.
