Pilot seat H320

posted 10-07-2008 by Benny Tampa, FL

We put the seat down and measured the clearance that we had to the swim platform. We cut the chair base to an appropiate length so that when the seat was lowered it would not hit the swim platform. The seat itself has a curvature so we used additional washers as spacers on each of the sides of the installed base.

The nuts and bolts protrude from the bottom of seat which when open is the top of step. As we wanted to continue to use it as part of the swim deck and boat entrance on a floating dock we covered the nuts and bolts with Dry-Deck panels. These were glued among themselves and to the bottom of the seat. I think we used 4200 and it has held fo rthe past three years.

The chair we keep inside the cabin and slip it on when we go sailing. The tightening nut we dont even touch as it is surprising how the chair holds position even at large degree of heel. It is blessing for your back on long trips and we are looking forward to replace it with one with arm rests. It is a simple very rewarding project.

This is the payoff.
