376 Generator

Aft Cabin Seat Cushions Removed

We tried to locate the Generator in the aft lazarette. Due to height restrictions, we needed to install it in the only, seemingly available spot.

Open Space for New Panda

Glassed in poplar boards to receive the 3/4 plywood shelf. Reinforced shelf with side, front and intermediate struts. Secured generator with 3/8 stainless lag bolts. On the right is the vacuum break for the raw water cooling circuit.

Glassed in support to hull.

I had a lumber yard make up the front H stile for scribing and installing betweeen the 2 existing cabinets.

Added Sound proofing sold by the Worth Company. Sound level was unacceptable prior to installing the enclosure.

New Teak Enclosure Installed

The cabinet top, the front stile and the cleat (top orange looking board) are removable. The Panda cover must be removed from the top due to space limitations.

Look at the previous photo to see how we access the generator for service.

Cabinet Top installed

The top panels has a receiver setup on the bottom made of poplar boards. The door slips in to the bootom of the opening from the top. The door is swung up into the opening and the clasp type keepers snap into place and lock.

The bottom door is hinged for the battery and a nice general storage area. A push button type lock is installed on the bottom door. The hardware was purchased from Mc Master Carr.

I got help from Owners web on how to match the color. The new teak was a LOT more brown. Chris Burti turned me on to analine die from woodworker.com, a great tip. I mixed red and yellow to tone it. IT looks GREAT, a perfect match!
