Redesigned 376 Steering Console

posted 10-07-2008 by Larry Stewart

We purchased our 1998 Hunter 376 this pass April. We love the boat but I didn’t like the way the instruments were laid out on the steering console and I wanted to install a RAM MIC VHF radio setup. This shows the original setup.

Original Setup of Instruments

So, I cut out a template and outlined the locations of the instruments. Took it to a local shop here in Norfolk, VA and they did a great job of making me a new console faceplate. The overall effect was dramatic and the instruments are exactly where I want them.

After redesigning and installing new faceplate

Any future instrument work only requires me to unscrew the faceplate. So, in case any others are out there with a similar situation, this is an option available. I attached pictures of before and after. Good sailing to all!

Oh, love the RAM MIC...I can use it as an intercom and ask for another cup of coffee.

Oh...overall cost (beside new radio and Ram MIC...$110
