H37C - Replacing vanity sink.

posted 01-28-2011 by Ed Schenck

Back in 2003 I tired of looking at the cracks and yellowing of the molded in vanity sink. How I wish I had known about spray-on Corian! Or maybe it wasnt available back then.

So I started by finding a stainless sink and bar faucet. Then I cut a piece of 1/4 plywood for the base. It also acted as a template in order to cut the old sink away.

The next step was to get the old faucet out. Since I was cutting the entire sink away it was easier to cut it out then trying to work under there. A Roto-Zip was used for the cutting.

Using the plywood base as a template I marked and then cut out the sink bowl. Then I took the base home and glued on a Formica top. The plywood base was fitted and epoxied to the remaining f/g molded vanity.

New hoses, drain, and a new mirror completed the project.
