Most wonderfullest cabin table

posted 10-07-2008 by Dave Simpson

It is slightly larger than the original. Teak ply with solid teak rails and corners. You can just see the supporting arm on the left.

The most wonderfullest cabin table.

In this position, the table serves as a dining table for the two occupants of the leather chairs. You can see the tables support pole attached to tha back of the mast. The swing-arms attaching the table to the pole are Stainless Steel with 1-1/2 ID, and have clamps strategically located at the pivot points.

As table for two.

In this position, two can play cards very comfortably.

Here, guests seated on the settee can be served drinks or dinner with their hosts.

Table for four

Here you can see the SS Support Arm. While under way, we slide it up on its mounting pole, (1-1/2 heavy-wall aluminum) and clamp it securely in place; the table is out of the way, and the pole provides a sturdy handhold for those transversing the salon.

Up, up, and away!

(This photo is rotated 90-degrees)
Looking at the underside while its up there, you can see my workbench which lives there when not in use. In use, the bench clamps to the cockpit pedestal and those metal pieces are attachment points for support legs. The SS mounting arm with its square plate attaches directly to the underside of the table. That square hole left in the workbench accepts pre-mounted tools; router, jigsaw, table-saw and drill...all mounted on their own squares of plexiglas. You can also see that the table rotates on two axes, making it adjustable to many places, and lockable in any one of them.

Double duty.

This is a detail of the locking clamp allowing the table to be locked anywhere up or down the pole, and each pivot has its own clamp, so it can be locked anywhere. In practice though, we leave it loose to pivot around the pole and on its own center. All in all, this table has been very successful for us.
