Anchor locker modification 37C

posted 10-07-2008 by Scott Wilson

View of anchor locker with cabinetry removed. Dead space around sides and below loacker pan. Also I had a leak from the bow area of deck that collected in/or on v berth. Gray squares on sides are the carpet outline of shelves removed.

The space waster

Used 5/8 inch ply that fit into the tab of the deck liner, at the ceiling line. I ended up glassing over the bottom bolt of the chain plate on the forward side of the chain plate, so resolve the leak issue.

YOu can see that the locker has increased in depth about 90%. Per this forums advise, slack the foresail stay before cutting out the old locker sides, keeping the rear/aft wall of the original locker.

new locker floor glassed in from below

note I glassed over the bottom of the chain plate to prevent (reduce?) potential leaks.

new through hull is the lower foward one, I left the glassed over (from inside) throgh hull drain rough for photo purposes

through hull drain was moved

I kept the bitter-end u bolt from the old locker and installed in the new floor

using new locker,
