Replacing the stock bulb wing lead keel with a deep draft option will dramatically improve sailing performance. The boat will be stiffer and have a greatly reduced leeway.
Removal of the old keel reveals a small keel stub with which to make a template for the new keel and bolt pattern. It is recommended that the new keel be as close to the 4800# that the original was.
As is visible in the photos, the new keel has a slight flare at the bottom and the trailing edge is finished at a point at the very bottom of the keel.
Total displacement remains the same a stock. The new draft is improved from 46 to 6. The new CG of the keel is 10 below the old one.
