Glad to be rid of that old smelly wall carpet! Wear a dust mask when pulling it off, the dust is terrible and who knows what is living in it! I disinfected fiberglass and painted white before gluing strips of tongue and grove clear pine beadboard. Primed and painted with exterior grade latex that is slightly tinted off-white.

The v-berth is much brighter and smells a whole lot better. You also eliminate the rug burns during playtime (if you get my drift).
