I have tried to replace the packing on my 1997 310, but the packing nut could not be backed out enough to come off the threads because it was hitting the water diversion rib on the hull, and even if it could come off, it couldnt slide up the shaft for access to the packing. I would appreciate any personal experience with this issue from owners of H310s. It appears that even out of the water, the stuffing box would not come off due to the limited clearance, and I would assume that the shaft could not bent up because of the cutless bearing on the other end. Please post any suggestions on how to overcome this problem to the 310 message board. I hope the three attached pictures will speak for themselves.
