Stainless Steel Hand Rail Replacments

posted 10-07-2008 by Steve Dion

The boat is the Heather Marie a 1985 Hunter 31. This is a view of the finished product. These rails were made by one of the shops in the S.F. bay area. The centers were made to fit exactly where the original hole from the teak rail came off. The rail are made of 1 stainless steel tube with bolts welded to the bases.

All of the holes were drilled oversize and filled with epoxy. Then they were redrilled to the proper size. The holes go through the headliner. The holes were caulked and fitted with large washers on the inside and fitted with acorn nuts.

Maintenance is now to a minimum. Only the eyebrow over the windows and a few pieces of teak in the cockpit are all that remain to keep up.
