Passage 45 upgrades 3

This cabinet was added to the area above the washer/dryer. Always needing more storage space, I started by drilling a small hole from inside the propane locker and using a stiff wire discoverd there was 7-8 inches between the locker and the paneling inside the cabin. I then cut a hole from inside the propane locker using a small dremell tool. This hole was large enough to put my hand into and determine there was no obstructions between the locker and the paneling to interfere with cutting a door from the inside and utilizing the space. After cutting a 15x23 section (later used as the hinged door) I replaced (by fiberglassing) the hand sized cutout back into the propane locker. I then secured a board from the inside of the locker against the propane locker to make it more appealing. A shelf was added inside to maximize the usable space and the cut out door piece was attached using a piano hinge so the door swung upward. I installed a led touch light, and installed a clasp similiar to the ones already on the boat.

With the hinged door raised you can see the backboard and shelf.

a little closer view. Not shown but inside the locker is a small toggle switch used to turn the pump on and off with out having to use the circuit breaker.

anchor wash down

I wanted a anchor wash down to use when we were anchored in muddy anchorages. I did not want to use precious fresh water (we are cruisers). I started by considering using the thru hull connection for the foward head sink drain, and locating the pump in the same area as the thru hull fitting, but soon discovered it would be a very difficult to run a water line under the foward berth to the anchor locker. I decided since we would not be using the wash down all the time it would be simplier to locate the pump in the anchor locker and just run the electric lines to power it. I got the power for the pump by tapping off the unused power lead for the foward entermainment system (circuit breaker needs to be on). I removed the unused eyebolt in the anchor locker and located the pump next to the winch as shown. For the suction side of the pump we use an weighted hose that hangs over the side of the bow and a garden hose for the output. I used quick disconnect fitting on both the suction and discharge side of the pump so we can store the hoses when not in use
