Raymarines rudder position indicator is a little tricky to install. The installation diagram assumes a tiller-like attachment to the rudder post. My 29.5 and other models have a cast wheel on the rudder post, whose bumps and ridges make mounting difficult.

A suitable installation can be made if you first make a block of wood about 1/2 x 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. Drill holes to match the provided connector for the threaded linkage. This will raise the connector to the right height to clear the casting. Then drill and tap the casting to accept screws (I used #10-24).

The placement shown for the transducer will ensure that the linkage does not interfere with the cable or catch on any part of the cast wheel. Remember to anchor the sensor wire so that it cant rub against the steering cable.
