Since there have been a number of threads dealing with various aspects of the infamous Hunter OEM white nylon stuffing box, I thought Id post a pic of the inards of this beast.

As you can see, there are three rings (two nylon, one stainless) separating two rings of packing material. I could never find a way to removed these rings to repack the box without removing the coupler/shaft. That being the case, and since I never really trusted this gland, I recently replaced it with a conventional bronze gland that is easy to repack.
