Inspection Port for Edson Wheel

posted 07-27-2014 by Rick Warner

At some point, you may need to inspect the pully system at the bottom of your wheel steering. Last year, my cable jumped the pully and became lodged between the pully wheel and the holding bracket. If you have ever needed to work your hands into this area, you know how limited the space is. I cut out and installed an inspection port at the bottom of the pedistal with access from the lower bunk. Now, I can inspect, lubricate, and unjam any cable problems with ease. The small pvc pipe helps to keep the autopilot cables out of harms way.
