The OEM shift and throttle cable retainer clip (shown in the photo)on my Honda 8hp outboard was not able to hold the cables securely.

When the helm was hard over, the cables would pinch and bind. As a result, the throttle would not return to idle position and stay there.

I manufactured this bracket to extend out over the cables and hold them straight as they exit the motor cowling.
