My 260 Improvements

posted 10-07-2008 by John Baumgartner

installation was simple and stright forward, while I was at it I did some fancy small line work around the wheel

Installed auto helm

The flus gate position was a problem, didnt know where to put it, the placement of other megnatic articles was important, finial placement was fwd port bulkhead, aft bunk.

flux gate placement

placement was a concern when in operation, this seems like a good place.. out of the way but can be an easy reach from the helm station, waterproofed the attachment place and as an extra precausion calked around the fixture, it has worked great on a 14 day sail and 4 weekend trips

placement of the auto helm instrument

I use this DC ckt breaker for the addition of three DC outlets below decks

added 15 amp. crkt breaker

The placement of my three new goodies, upper left-remote mike VHF, upper right 12v power outlet, lower middle ON-OFF-Both Switch

on-off-both

20AMP true chager is port side aft bunk on other side of wet locker I use an extension cord to go to Honda 1 K gen or shore power when on the hard. Plan on installing AC this winter and running the generator for the AC

True charger

Monitors Voltage, amps used, amp remaining etc, seems like this is a good location, I look at it very time a go below decks

This lamp fixture has an adjustable spot and a defuser lights up better than stock

new lamp fixtures

Floresent light right above the table, make it great for table games, cards, etc. less power and lights up the whole cabin, note cheap fan, works ok but draws a lot of power.

I had to cut down the mounting shaft to get the height right, it moves foward and aft and rotates, since Im very tall, 5ft 4 it is correct for me, and I can see fwd sitting down, oh ya I had to buy two, used one, so if anybody want the other $100. plus shipping its yours

Captains Seat

used 3/4 marine plywood, will paint it with epoxy

Captains seat beneath

New wife wanted new stove.. a two burner. had to do a little cutting but seems to fit ok, work better that stove it replaced.... oh yah, if anybody wants the orginial one burner stove e-mail me LKYusnret2@aol.com

better stoping power, no adjustement required, self cleaning SS I had no problems so far driven about 3,000 miles, plan on putting the on rear axle this winter

disk brake trailer

add new shelves, under gally sink and under stove, glues braces on bulkhead, screwed thru cabnet walls, big problem was the fit and finish inside the fiberglass walls
