Adding a Window with pictures this time

posted 10-07-2008 by Jim Seamans

After getting tired of leaning out the side or back of the boat to see the wind finder on the top of the mast. For a winter project I decided to place a window in the bimini.

CUT HOLE IN THE BIMINI!!!!!
measure 16 times before cutting... hole is 12 square.

Cut a hole in the bimini

After speaking with the guys at the sail loft, they told me this is the best way to install. - For ME that is. The cloth sticks out about 1/2 inch all around the plastic. Just to the right is a flap I was preparing to cover over the window.

Triming out the window

Wow! was this part fun. Notice the straight sewing lines. This is with the flap in place. Must have been into the beer again.

Window sewed into place

The front part of the flap has velcro to hold it in place when closed. I will probably sew another piece of velcro on the back part of the bimini to hold it open is the wind gets carried away.

Fun project. Next curtins for the windows.
Sorry ladies Im already taken...
