Rigging - Side Stays

posted 09-12-2008 by Michael Smith

One of the problems related to stepping the mast is insuring that the turnbuckles for the side stays (V1 and D1 page 47A of manual) dont get bent in the process. There are various ways of insuring this. One way is to tie the stays to the lifeline with masking or surveyors tape. The tape will keep the stays vertical until the mast is the upright. Another clever way is to stuff a foam or rubber plug in the U bolts.
