Our H28 is great and we really wanted a cockpit table for dining and entertaining. It had to be expandable for use while sailing, at anchor or the dock. After looking at what was available from marine suppliers we decide to build our own so it was properly sized for the cockpit.

Materials included a 6”X 1” teak board from the local specialty lumber yard, a SS folding bracket for the pedestal hinges from Alema.com (model #EB-303/EP), and SS flush mount hinges from Gemlux.com (model #2192) for the fold out table leaves.

I initially thought I’d do the woodwork myself but quickly discovered I lacked the tools and skill to properly join the boards, recess the hinges and inlay the fiddles and end caps. I found a great local millwork shop (McMillan Custom Millwork – thos.mcmillan@gmail.com) to put the pieces together. It all came together for about ½ the price of an Edson teak table and is custom fit for my cockpit.

The table folds down next to the pedestal when not in use, and can be used in both a compact and dining configuration. It works great and is a great addition to our H28.
