Anchor Roller

posted 10-07-2008 by Dick Hoffman

See Roller and backing plate

Purchase roller from WM and took it to boat. Measured length needed to clear bow with anchor and make sure I had room to secure it when under way. Roller and backing plate made to fit in the little bow compartment are shown. Note two stainless nuts welded to top of roller track and pin that secures anchor in place. Also added a cleat to the roller. One of the bolts securing it is through bolted to the backing plate. The other is into the roller track. Anchor track is cut to size and same angle as pulpit support.

See Top view

Shows pin securing anchor in place. Chose less than desireable angle to avoid Furling lines. Anchor doesnt move around because blades contact forword end of roller frame. Being off center isnt a problem because boat will sail while on the hook anyway.

See Side view

Shows anchor blades supported.
