The slats for a hatch are to inconvenient and unsecure. I built these doors from 1 mahogany, 1/4 mahogany marine plywood and the 3/8 smoked plexiglass slats.

I used stainless steel piano hinge for the doors and chrome latch (previous picture). It provides good access and security while on and off the boat.
