The mount for my Simrad TP10 is on the starboard seat. The PO had a pedestal mount on the deck in front of the motor. But there just was not enough travel for a port tack. I think it was kind of ridiculous the way it was installed. The only thing it could really do was hold a heading, forget about the tack function. I added a 6 inch extension to the shaft to provide the amount of travel needed.

Brass mounting cup.

I installed the mounting cup in the starboard seat, using 5200 and a piece of hardwood inside.
Its very unobtrusive. The cockpit cushion goes right over it.

I used a trolling motor electrical plug, because it is water tight, twist lock and durable.
