A peek inside Empty Pocket, part 2

posted 10-07-2008 by Brian and Steph Bosley

...as it looks most of the time. Actually, Im lying... the v-berth is our catch-all and is usually the subject of varied clutter that gets thrown out of the main salon. We do try to store most of our gear forward. The covered item on the port side is the Katadyne 40-e watermaker and woodstove is stored under the anchorbox. All of the fishing gear that Steph uses is on the starboard side.

v-berth...

We had to put a lighted mirror in for Steph on the backside of the door. ...also on the back of the door is something that we came up with for when we have guests aboard... a v-berth extension! Anyone who is familiar with the 25.5 knows that the V is small, and alone barely has enough room for one person to sleep in the V.

vanity area...

...this is where the extension rests when in use.

V-berth extension in place...

We use the cushion from the port side bench-seat in front of the rear berth to complete the extension... these straps aid in keeping the cushion in place.

cushion straps...

it works very well!

one more view...

The 25.5 only had a portable tank toilet from the factory... we installed a fully operational marine head. The 9 gallon holding tank is located under the port forward salon seating.

head...

its a bit full, but we handle it OK. We switch out seasonal clothes from the rear berth storage canvas that we showed you in A peek inside Empty Pocket, part 1

clothing/storage.

The only thing that we lack inside the cabin is the ability to take a shower. We will often shower in the cockpit with the enclosure in place around us. This gives us the privacy that we need.

...That is all for now. I will try to get a detailed photolog of the rear lazarrette up soon. As always, feel free to e-mail questions or steal our ideas for your own boat.
