cruisin in a 25.5

posted 10-07-2008 by Brian Bosley

ahhhh... the true test of any marine refrigerator! Hats off to Frigoboat!

...making ice?? Whoduthunkit??

a little more believable...

...our Hunter 25.5 only has a 23 gallon water tank, so for those long voyages, we carry a Powersurvivor 40 which is portable and plugs into a deck plug. We use it to keep our jerry jugs filled.

...making water.

...fully set-up, complete with garbage bags hanging on stern. We watched boats come and go for two weeks, during which time we never even had to start our motor. We actually sold water and fuel from our supply to a couple of other big boats that were not as well equipped.

At anchor in the harbor...

...yes, thats out cat going for a ride through the anchorage with Steph on Pocket Lint.

...new definition for CRUISING KITTY

It was on this boat... we hung out for the entire evening with these guys on S/V Dragonlord.

...wheres the party??

...when youve had too much to drink the night before on S/V Dragonlord?? Somehow we agreed to go fishing in our INFLATABLES! Uhm, ok... 3 people, tiny dinghy, where do they plan to put the fish??

...you see what happens???

...I cannot tell you how many fish Steph caught during the next two days. My only complaint was when she caught a 4 foot Barracuda while in the inflatable.

...WATCH THOSE HOOKS!

I think I was looking for the dinner bell shortly after this pic was taken.

not a bad day!

Suddenly, Whisper the cat became VERRRY fond of sailing!

...dont even think about it!

we had so much fish during the trip... we experimented with the different ways to cook it.

Sushi anyone?

...so we partied hard and had a great time! I hope to run into these guys again next year!

Last night for S/V Dragonlord...

...This guy was amazing! Art was singlehanding a Beneteau 50 around the NorthAmerican continent. He fulfilled a lifelong dream to do it and spent 6 months preparing the boat. How did he afford it? He mortgaged everything to the hilt!! I hope his trip was successful... what a cool guy!

meet Art.

...thank goodness! I was getting tired of eating fish!

Cruisers party on the beach...

Looking west from the harbor. You can see Loggerhead Key Lighthouse in the distance.

Our final sunset

This was my favorite sunset from the entire trip.

What a view

...I will chase THAT feeling every day.

endless...

...note the full cup of coffee for the run to the Marquesas... about 12 hours.

Leaving Fort Jefferson...

Steph checking out the anchorage.

checking out the Marquesas

...ALL TO OURSELVES!! WOOHOO!!

(the advantage to sailing on Tuesday)

and we had it...

...the completion of part two. We entered our old stomping grounds for a short visit and boat maintenance. I will pick up this story in part three to be posted in a few weeks. Look for us!
