Galley Hatch

posted 02-02-2009 by Per Albinsson

I made the two hatches by sawing out the two pieces. The edges are finished with a router that gives a perfect surface. Over and under the new hatches I had to fill in with some mahogany. (The big hole on top will soon be filled with a stainless sink and stowe)

I believe that this opening will provide good acess to the space that is left after installing the 14.5 gal watertank.

Here it is wide open, a flat surface allows me to put light items on it and it protects the cushions from stains from cooking. The hatch will be kept open (and closed) by two miniature gas springs, not seen on this photo. For safety I will make locks for the springs.
