After seeing what Tom Adams had done with his cabinet I wanted to duplicate it. I had ordered a Magna Grill and wanted cooking storage for the galley. Not wanting to design from scratch I searched the web for a suitable sized cabinet. None were available but I did find a planter on amazon (no top or bottom) that was perfect.

I received it and took it to the boat. It actually fit! It would take work, but is was easier than starting from scratch.

I cut the legs off with a table saw.

I had 3/8 plywood in the basement and I cut several shelves to see how it might go together.

I cut the top and bottom of one end off and made a door. I added hinges and went shopping for galley rail.

I purchased a silverware tray for the bottom and finalized how the shelves would be arranged. I cut holes for short dowels to support the shelves. I cut the galley rail to fit close to the sides of the boat and glued then in place after installation. The cabinet is held with screws from underneath.

Inside we have a shelve for spices, silverware, and dry storage. I bought a stainless cook set and a coffee pot. Oddly, the most expensive item for the cabinet was the galley rail!
