Wanting a place to stow an anchor, ropes, small ice chest, etc. I built this stowage locker using materials purchase from Boat Outfitters. Two pieces of 27x24 Arctic White King Starboard Plastic Sheets, two Stainless Steel Take-A-Part Hinges 1.5 x 1.5, and one Seafoam Flush Boat Latch. I started by making a cardboard template for the lid, then cut and mounted the plastic sheet. This made it easier to create the template for the front. I cut several strips 3/4 wide to use as mounting cleats and used stainless steel screws, countersunk, to attach everything. I plan to round the sharp corners and add some non-slip material to the top of the lid. Contemplating putting a net pocket on the underside of the lid for stowing things like gloves, flashlight, hats, etc.

In addition to providing stowage space (not meant to be watertight, by the way), it provides a nice place to sit if you are not running a jib.

Total cost - $164.91 not including screws.

Ample room for a US Anchor #7 and a small cooler!

Tip: When making the lid, be sure to make full use of the 27 width so that the opening edge extends as far aft as possible. This will provide maximum space for the materials used. I decided to order 2 27x24s rather than a larger piece to save on shipping costs. Worked out great, and I have a little material left over for who-knows-what!
