Review of the Hunter 34 by W Swank

Year built 1983
Location of boat Lake Ponchartrain, LA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely, for the money and the LOA you can't get more boat. When we bought this bought we were looking for a camp and we got one. Our friends call it a condo. Several friends with 35 and 36 footers comment that they do not have the room we have. It makes long weekends very pleasant. Lots of headroom and living room. At anchor everyone comes to our boat! Sails great too!
Gear that's been added DC generator, Max Prop,Radar, A/C, Davits, Dodger, Stereo, TV, VCR all the comforts of home...
Structural or complex improvements None necessary.
The boat's best features Short handed sailing abilty... it is a piece of cake to take out singlehanded. Max Prop is a dream come true. backs up straight as an arrow almost no prop walk. We have to parallel park and it is easier than a car.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs Excellent, fast, tender.
Motoring characterisitcs ADD THE MAX PROP. Backs up straight as an arrow stops on a dime.
Liveability Excellent see above.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N?A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Watch out for brokers!
