Review of the Hunter 34 by Daryl Nelson

Year built 1983
Location of boat New Orleans La
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I am satisfied with the Hunter 34
Gear that's been added Stereo, Deck washdown pump, TV
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Ease of sailing and room in cabin
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The gear shift cable holder bracket in the steering colum has broken, seams to be made of some kind of fiberglass or something, not very strong.
Sailing characterisitcs A fast sailer, but need to reef early. I have been out in winds up to 40 knots and never felt threatened.
Motoring characterisitcs I feel it is abit under powered, but works well
Liveability I cruise on long weekends often with four aboard, we make it fine. When it is just my wife and I there is more than enough room.

The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any n/a
