Review of the Hunter 34 by Foster W Nye

Year built 1983
Location of boat lake champlain,vermont
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes its a very well layed out cabin and a good handleing boat, i mite have prefered a deep keel but i enjoy getting close to shore..
Gear that's been added 3 blade prop , inverter, gps chartmap
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features well built, very good access to important areas of the boat
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. small holding tank, all batts on one side( which i moced the two house batts to the port side) no fuel gauge.
Sailing characterisitcs very good in light air not so good in a following sea
Motoring characterisitcs once i changed to a 3 blade prop it isexellcent under power i avarge 7.9 knots at 2600-2800 rpm at .45 gallons per hour
Liveability very well designed good shower, goodberths good galley area. fair storage
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) i have had a couple of questions and they have given a quick response
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any we bought the boat from Bruce Hil yacht sales very professional and helpfull people .. smooth closeing ,etc..
