Review of the Hunter 33.5 by L. J. WHEELDON

Year built 1995
Location of boat KEMAH, TX
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Multi-week coastal cruising
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1993
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? THAT IS A YES
Gear that's been added A/C, AUTO-PILOT, LORAN-C
Structural or complex improvements MINOR BLISTERS, HUNTER NEEDS TO IMPROVE, LAY-UP PROCEDURES, A BETTER BLISTER BLOCK MATERIAL. WHAT PROBLEMS I HAD HUNTER RESPONDED RAPIDLY. I'M VERY SATISFIED WITH REPAIR AND BLISTERS ARE COMMON PROBLEMS WITH ALL FIBERGLASS BOATS.THIS AREA WITH ITS EXTENDED SEASON AND HIGH TEMPERATURES, APPEARS TO CAUSE MORE BLISTER PROBLEMS THEN OTHER AREAS.
The boat's best features INTERIOR LAYOUT, COCKPIT LAYOUT
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. STRESS CRACKS IN GELCOAT.
Sailing characterisitcs VERY FAST FOR THE WATER LINE LENGTH. EXCESSIVE HEEL DUE TO THE BOAT OVER-POWERED BY TALL RIG AND MAIN.
Motoring characterisitcs EXTREMELY SATISFACTORY. BOAT RESPONSES TO THE HELM IN REVERSE, MUCH BETTER THEN MOST SAILBOATS.
Liveability VERY GOOD I LIVED ABOARD THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) VERY SATISFACTORY
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any VERY SATISFACTORY, I WOULD RECOMMEND. "SHIP
